We are here to remember the life of William Landry, who left us on August 23, 2025. Born in Gardner, Massachusetts, on December 7, 1958, to the late Louis and Marjorie Landry, William, fondly known as Bill, was a beacon of reliability and generosity to his many friends and neighbors. Bill dedicated his life to making his corner of the world a little brighter, a little happier, and a whole lot more loving.
Bill, a resident of Athol for 41years, was the proud partner of a thriving auto sales and salvage business. His work ethic and persistent dedication earned him the respect of many, and his business thrived until his retirement in 2025. However, his professional accomplishments were just one facet of his life. His true passion was his family and friends, around whom his world revolved. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 45 years, Karen Landry, and a caring father to his children, Lea and Joseph Landry, and Joe’s significant other, Amy Stotz. He was also a doting grandfather to Riley and Chloe Landry. Bill's love for his family was evident in his actions and his words. He is survived by his sister Lisa Smaldone and her husband, Gary, and their daughters, Victoria & Erica, all of Texas. Suzanne Cahill & her daughter Kristen, Bruce Goguen & his wife Linda and his daughters Amy & Stacy, the late David Goguen & his wife Jeanette and their daughters Michelle & Erica, and Leonard Goguen and his children Sydney & Justin. And many great nieces and nephews and 1 great great nephew.
Bill's generosity extended beyond his immediate family. He was a true friend who could always be relied upon, and his poker games with lifelong buddies were legendary. He enjoyed his vacations with his family and driving around the Quabbin in his Corvette with his wife. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well." William Landry lived up to this ideal every day of his life.
William Landry's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy of love, dedication, reliability, and generosity will continue to inspire those he left behind.
