Roscoe, NY

William E. Carroll, III (Billy) of Roscoe, New York, died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, July 1, 2022, at his home on Tennanah Lake, New York, at the age of 59.

Billy was born in Gardner, Massachusetts, the son of Barbara Vorse Carroll and the late Dr. William E. Carroll, Jr.  He graduated from Gardner High School in 1981 where he played football and was on the swimming team.  He graduated from St. Anselm College in 1986 and went on to an amazing career in the music industry.

Billy spent three decades as a senior executive in the music industry, most recently at C3 Management, Capitol Music Group, and Vagrant, Elektra and London Records. Many tributes from his colleagues have been received by his family.  C3’s Dave Barbis said, “Billy’s wit and infectious humor were second to none but his authenticity was his greatest gift.  He got into the music business for the right reasons and that’s why he was so respected and admired throughout his career.  He never enjoyed the limelight and as many knew he just cared about his craft and doing it the right way.”

Billy was a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle and friend.  He is survived by his wife, Alicia McCausland Carroll, his mother Barbara Carroll Niemi of Gardner and his with four siblings.  He leaves behind his sister Joyce Carroll Fletcher and her husband Jim of Gardner; his brother Jim Carroll and his wife Karen of Tenants Harbor, Maine; his sister Lynn Carroll of Greensboro, North Carolina; and his sister Nancy Williams and her husband Keith of Athol, Massachusetts.  He also left behind loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews who truly adored him.  He will also be missed by his much-loved dog Archie.

Someone close to Billy said that his heart was so big it almost didn’t fit in his body.  So true.  He was lovable and so loved. Bill was passionate about music.  He was a true dog lover and a big football fan, especially the New England Patriots.  He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Obernburg, New York, and also attended Chair City Church in Gardner, Massachusetts. He was a loyal volunteer at The Roscoe Shepherd’s Food Pantry.  He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and his kindness and compassion for all - humans, animals, and his great love for his country.
