GARDNER - Virginia (Hilow) Rahaim, 101, died peacefully on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Wachusett Rehabilitation and Nursing Home. She was 5 days short of her 102nd birthday. 

She was born in Worcester on August 24, 1920, The daughter of the late Assad and Catherine (Aziz) Hilow. 

Mrs. Rahaim was raised and educated in Worcester. Upon her marriage to Ernest J. Rahaim on June 27, 1942, she moved to Quincy for several years. They later resided in Worcester before moving to Gardner many years ago. Mrs. Rahaim was a member of the former Sacred Heart Church in Gardner and former Mother’s Guild and Catholic Women’s Club. Virginia was devoted to her faith and enjoyed praying with her Rosary group. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and loved children. 

She leaves two sons, John (Jack) G. Rahaim of Nashville,TN, David F. Rahaim and his wife Catherine of Gardner; one brother, Mitchell Hilow of Worcester; four grandchildren, Jason Rahaim and his wife Cheryl of NC, Matthew Rahaim and his wife Jenna of Minneapolis, MN, Elizabeth (Rahaim) Cookson and her husband Mark of Manchester, NH, and Michelle (Rahaim) Heffner and her husband Scott of Gardner; four great-grandchildren,  Aiden Rahaim of NC, Benjamin Heffner of Gardner, Daniel Heffner of Gardner and Ciara Cookson of Manchester, NH; a former daughter-in-law Nancy Rahaim of Lunenburg; a dear friend, Theresa Leger of Gardner; many nieces and nephews. 

Virginia was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Ernest J. Rahaim, on July 13, 2005; three brothers, Samuel Hilow, Joseph Hilow and George Hilow. 

Virginia’s funeral services and burial will be private. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501, St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
