Sandra Ann Rocheleau
It is with great sadness that our family shares the news of our mother, Sandra (Remal) Rocheleau, who died Monday, July 24, 2023, at UMass Hospital in Worcester due to complications during heart surgery.
Sandie was born December 20, 1943, the youngest child of Rey Remal and Rose Marie (Leblanc) Remal.
Sandie’s childhood in Leominster was full of love, music, and dancing, traits that she shared with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sandie met the love of her life, Roland Rocheleau, whom she married in 1963, and together they shared a love like no other and a lifetime of happiness until his passing in 2020. Their home in Westminster was the gathering place for family and friends, and when they retired to the Florida Keys, they continued the tradition of being consummate hosts. Innumerable family members and friends count themselves blessed to have Sandie as part of their lives. If you met her even once, you knew immediately who she was. She was creative, could play any instrument by ear, wrote beautiful poems, and made the best soup out of any ingredient. Sandie shared her positive spirit with everyone she met. She lived her life like the fine wines she so enjoyed, many-layered, full of flavor, and vibrant. Sandie gave everything so selflessly, loved fiercely, and was genuinely kind and caring. She embodied the meaning of the words “home” and “harmony”. Her laughter, her hugs, her music, her huge heart, everything about Sandie was life itself. Our loss is tremendous, but we are comforted with the idea that she is dancing in Heaven with her beloved Roland.
Sandie is grieved by her four children, daughter Lisa and her wife Katie Littlepage, son Steven and his wife Karla, daughter Cathy and her husband Richard Fairneny, and son Daniel and his wife Paula. Sandie was the most awesome Memere to Paul and Ben Bourque, Allison (Austin) Baker, Emily (Rob) Babcock, Kathryn (Eric) Wilson, Luke (Brooke) Rocheleau, Zack (Stephanie) Rocheleau, Kayla (Zack) Despres, and Justin (Lexi) Rocheleau. G-Mem to Ryan, Joshua and Jackson Babcock, Charlotte and Owen Baker, Jack Rocheleau, and Hunter Wilson, with two more great-grandchildren on the way. Sandie also leaves her sisters Barbara Lawrence and Kathy Emond, numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and cousins.
Sandie leaves countless friends in Westminster, MA, and in Marathon, FL. Sandie was predeceased by her husband and soulmate Roland Rocheleau, her brother Ron Remal, and her parents.
As Sandie requested, following cremation, the family will have a private ceremony and burial.
