Robert E. "Bob" Thayer

ATHOL -  Robert E. "Bob"  Thayer, 90 of Athol passed away Sunday, April 14, 2023, in the Athol Hospital.  

He was born on July 13, 1933, the son of Robert H. Thayer and Louise E. (King) Thayer.  Bob graduated from Petersham High School.  He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army.

Throughout his life, Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed golf at the Petersham and Ellinwood Country Clubs. Bob also enjoyed spending time at York Beach. He was a quiet gentleman who enjoyed working around his home and yard. He was loved and will be missed by family and friends.

Robert leaves his wife Judith of 42 years; two daughters, Denise Laffond (Reggie), Mary Mallet (Ted) both of Athol; three stepsons, Roger Duguay (Mary Ann) of Wilbraham, Michael Duguay (Rachel) of Charlton, and Jerry Duguay (Deb) of Athol; he also leaves nine grandchildren. TJ Mallet (Dayna), Reginald Laffond (Deceased), Mallory Laffond (Ethan), Caitlyn Woodard (Chris), Ashley Hill (Nick), Michelle Mase (Oren), James Duguay (Sarah), Kalli Duguay (Marc) and Joshua Duguay; 11 great grandchildren; brother John Thayer, sisters: Carolyn Coughlin, Patricia Kellogg, and Michaele Bartus (Richard).

A funeral service with military honors will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.  All attending are asked to go directly to the cemetery. 

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 5 - 7 p.m. in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange.
