Robert Brunell

Westminster

It is with a smirk and a sigh that we share the news of the departure of Robert W. Brunell, who left us on July 5th, 2026. Robert was born in Worcester, Ma on October 15, 1933.  This funny, ambitious, dedicated, and creative man was a unique blend of humor and hard work, possessing the rare ability to lighten any mood while simultaneously setting the bar high with his dedication to his work.

Robert's working life was spent at Modern Tool and Die in Leominster, and later at Vertex, where he was known for his clever solutions and creative innovations. His ambition was only matched by his sense of humor, and he was renowned for his ability to turn the most mundane tasks into a laughter-filled adventure. As Mark Twain once said, "The human race has one really effective weapon, and that is laughter." Rober wielded it well, and he will be remembered for it.

When he wasn't working, Robert could be found either on the ice playing ice hockey or at the Westminster Woods Golf Course trying to lower his handicap. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He moved to Westminster in 1987 and made it his home, where he lived out his days with a smile and a golf club in his hand.  He was widowed, but continued to live his life fully, always guided by the motto, "Life is better when you're laughing."

Robert leaves behind his two sons, Brian Brunell of Westminster, Kevin Brunell of Virgina; his daughter, Colleen Brunell of Townsend; three brothers, John Brunell of Florida, Alfred Brunell of Fitchburg, Steven Brunell of Fitchburg; sister, Sarah Nicholson of Keene, N.H.

He is preceded in death by his wife Annette E. Brunell, his father, Alfred Brunell, his mother, Beth Brunell, and his brother, Richard Brunell.

Funeral services and burial will be private.

The Mack Family Funeral Homes, Gardner - Chapel, 105 Central Street, Gardner, Ma. is handling the arrangements.
