GARDNER - Richard C. Hancock,88, died Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at UMass Medical Center - University Campus, Worcester.
He was born in Gardner on September 26, 1934, a son of the late Melvin Hancock and Emma (Whitcomb) Hancock.
Richard graduated from Templeton High School in 1952. He received an Associates Degree in Electronics from Worcester Junior College. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Marine Corps as a Sergeant. While serving he played in the Marine Football Team, Marine Corp Pistol and Rifle Team.
Mr. Hancock worked at MIT Lincoln Labs in Concord, MA as a Lab Technician.
He was a member of the Gardner Fish & Gun Club, Marine Corps League, Athol American Legion, Gardner Skin Divers Club and active in the Civil Defense Diver. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, table tennis, scuba diving, snowmobiles, motorcycling, Ham Radio Operator, had his Pilots License and playing golf.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Beverly (Ballester) Hancock; two sons, Joe Emma and his wife Leonie of Templeton, Michael Hancock and his wife Dee-dee of Tampa, FL; two daughters, Jaclyn Emma of Townsend, Karen Lemire of Gardner; six grandchildren, Brandi Villa of Rimina, Italy, Curtis Emma of Gardner, Tyler Emma of Leominster, Chris Hancock and Cate Hancock both of Tampa, Florida, and Juliana Lemire of Gardner; one great grandchild, Ellie Villa of Rimina, Italy.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 10 a.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon.
