Rene A. Goguen of Athol, Massachusetts, born on December 16, 1945, in Gardner, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026. Rene was a dedicated and loving husband, father, Papa and brother. He was a role model for many. He was generous with his time, known for his remarkable character, creativity and talent for music. His love for his family and friends was the cornerstone of his life.

Rene spent most of his career as a high school teacher, influencing countless lives with his wisdom, patience, and understanding. His dedication to education was recognized in 2008 when he was honored as the Worcester Vocational High School Teacher of the Year. Beyond his professional life, Rene also found joy in woodworking and filling rooms with his music. He was a member of several musical groups since high school, including Night Riders, Living Issue, Crossroads and The Bros.

Rene is survived by his wife Ann of 61 years; his son, Rene and wife Heather, his son Craig and wife Trista and his four grandchildren, Sarah, Ben, Brady and Hunter. He was preceded by his parents Edward and Fernande Goguen.

A mass to celebrate Rene's life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11 am in Annunciation Parish - Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. There are no calling hours.
