Pola Elizabeth (Pszczolkowski) Yackowski, 95 of Templeton died Monday, September 12, 2022. She passed away peacefully after a lengthy stay at Alliance Health at Baldwinville.
Pola was born on May 31, 1927, in Gardner and named after Polish ballerina and actress, Pola Negri, which she was extremely proud of. A daughter of Stanley and Josephine (Skowronski) Pszczolkowski. She grew up in Gardner in an area known as, "The Patch," which was a Polish neighborhood with many families and children.
Pola met her husband, Chester, at her sister Helen's wedding, they married on September 6, 1952, at St. Joseph's Church in Gardner. They then built a home in Baldwinville where they lived for over 50 years and were faithful members of St. Martin's Parish.
She returned to work after her daughter entered school and worked at Collier Keyworth Company as the head stitcher for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed sewing, making her daughter's school clothes, knitting, crocheting, cooking, gardening, and sitting poolside at her home in the summer months. She was a caregiver to her many family members and their children when there was a need and had endless energy.
Pola leaves behind her daughter, Paula Hume, and her husband, Michael, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was especially close to her nieces Jennifer Kilty and her children; Hillary Meattey and her children Jillian, Shannon Kilty, Danielle Mustakangas, and Jeffrey Kilty.
She was predeceased by nine siblings; Lillian Duteau, Irene Fournier, Kay Sutherby, Wanda Bertrand, Zigmond Pszczolkowski, Celia Hentnik, Walter Pszczolkowski, Helen Miganowicz and Theresa Carlberg.
A Mass of a Christian burial will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, September 19, 2022, at St. Martin's Parish, 248 State Road, Otter River. A Burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallan St. Winchendon, MA.
Calling hours will be held Monday, September 19, 2022, from 9:30 to 11:00 am at Mack Family Funeral Home, 105 Central Street, Gardner, MA.
