We are saddened to announce the passing of Norman A. Bacon, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Born on June 18, 1929, in Gardner, MA, he lived a remarkable and fulfilling life until his passing on February 20, 2026. Norman was a man of resilience, honor, and dedication. He served his country with pride in the US Army during the Korean War, and later in the US Navy Reserves for many years. His career began at the Tyler Company in Athol and became an executive at the Union Twist Drill Co spanned 37 years until its relocation to Springfield, reflecting his unwavering commitment and hardworking nature.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Norman was a man who lived life to the fullest. A resident of Athol, Massachusetts, he had a deep love for boating, stills and video photography, and the tranquil summers spent at their cottage in Maine. He was a proud member of the Athol Congregational Church and the NRA, always involved and committed to his community. Norman will be remembered as a man of integrity, with an infectious spirit of adventure and a heart full of kindness. Survived by his daughters, Brenda Strunjo, and Barbara McLaren and Ron Hutchinson, and his granddaughters, Molly Grosso and her husband David, Amanda McLaren, and Jenna McCurdy and her husband Shawn, three great-grandchildren, Eliana Grosso, Emmett Grosso, and Natalie McCurdy, and several nieces and nephews. Norman's legacy will continue to live on. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elwin and Ruth Bacon, his dear wife, Ruth Bacon, and his brothers, Frederic and Earl Bacon.
