Norma H. Lively of 68 Harrington Street, Athol, MA died Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Quabbin Valley Health Care with her family by her side after several months of declining health.
She was born in Athol, MA on August 25, 1935, the daughter of the late Leo and the late Mary (Soucie) Wright.
She was raised in Athol, attended local schools and graduated with the class of 1953.
She worked at the L.S. Starrett Company in the Sales Office, left to raise a family, and then re-entered the workforce as a teacher's aide at Sanders Street School for many years which gave her great satisfaction.
She was a devoted member of Our Lady Immaculate Church and was a Eucharistic Minister. She hand-knit may pairs of socks for the annual Church fair and they were always a sell out.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, William, who passed away in 2012; her brother Earl Wright and his wife Terry; her sister Esther Mitchell and her husband Jake; her nephew Bruce Mitchell; and her great-niece Jennifer Feyrer.
She leaves a son: Kenneth Lively and his wife Andrea; two daughters: Kim Lively and her husband Matt Labrie; Kelly Lively and her husband Gilly Gilson. Two granddaughters: Shannah Zinkievich, her husband Adam and their daughters Sophia and Evelyn. Heather Lively, her son Chasen and her fiance Tyson and his daughters Raegan and Nixon.
She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, friends and neighbors who were very dear to her.
In her personal life, Norma was a loving mother, a pillar of strength, and a guiding light for her children. She always put family first and got great joy from spending time with and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow.
Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Broadview Assisted Living Staff and Quabbin Valley Health Care staff for the wonderful care they provided to her. In particular we want to thank the Dana Memory Wing staff and Compassus Hospice Team who provided her with the most compassionate care during her final hours and provided the family with unwavering support to help us through this difficult transition.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 9:00-10:15 a.m. at Mack Funeral Homes, Athol-Orange Chapel, 110 New Athol Road, Orange. MA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street, Athol, MA. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Athol High School Scholarship Association, P.O. Box 338, Athol, MA 01331 or to Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street, Athol, MA 01331.
