Nancy Lee Green

March 5, 1950 — November 24, 2025

Westminster

Nancy Lee (Francis) Green, 75, died peacefully after a long battle with COPD on November 24th in Heywood Hospital with her brother and beloved friends by her side.

Nancy, daughter of Thomas and Ellie (Teittinen) Francis, was born in Gardner on March 5, 1950, and lived in Westminster all of her life.

She graduated from Oakmont Regional High School, class of 1968, where she played basketball and was a member of the Future Teachers Club. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She was a Girl Scout and a member of the International Order of Rainbow Girls at Hope Masonic Lodge.

Nancy was a Westminster girl, through and through. She loved her community and was well known for her hard work with the Neighbors Helping Neighbors non-profit organization. She was instrumental in its inception in 1987 and poured her heart and soul into the work for the annual Town Benefit Day and fundraisers throughout the year. It broke her heart to step back in recent years as her health met a decline.

Nancy served on the Westminster Citizens Caucus for several years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #174. She loved her American Legion and VFW friends and was a faithful patron of Kimmy’s Westminster Cafe, where she enjoyed breakfast on the weekends with her friend, Jim.

She retired as an insurance agent from the Barron-Adams Insurance Agency in Westminste,r where she could look out and see the comings and goings on Main Street every day. Prior to that, she worked for several years at Simplex Time Recorder.

Nancy had many friends and was loved by all. For several years, she travelled with close friends on the ferry to Nova Scotia. She often spoke of the wonderful memories they made together on these trips. Over the years, she enjoyed playing cribbage and attending concerts with her friend, Danny. She was kind and generous, and quick-witted with a great sense of humor.

Nancy leaves her brother, Mike Francis of Newton, her nephew and his wife, Matthew and Shannon Francis, and her niece, Laura Francis. She was predeceased by her sister in law, Noreen Francis. She will be dearly missed by her family and all of her friends.

The family is deeply grateful to Nancy’s medical team and caregivers, Dr. Parker, Dr. Khanani, Dr. K. P., her nurses in the clinics, and the medical, nursing, and respiratory staff and social workers at Heywood Hospital. Their kindness, compassion, and wonderful care were unparalleled.
