Melina M. Stone

March 23, 1921 — September 6, 2023

Gardner

It is with tender hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Melina M. Stone. Born on March 23, 1921, in Ste Marie DeKent, N.B. Canada, Melina's journey of 102 vibrant years was filled with laughter, love, and a humble spirit that touched everyone she met. She was a loving mother, a devoted grandmother, a spirited great-grandmother, and a thoughtful friend.

Melina grew up in Gardner and was a proud graduate of Gardner High School, Class of 1939. She was a woman of many talents and wore many hats. She was a skilled hairdresser, working alongside her sisters. She was also an efficient Office Administrator at Heywood-Wakefield Furniture Company for several years. In her retirement, she embraced the Florida sunshine, dancing her way through ballroom classes, enthusiastically cheering for her favorite Boston sports teams, and mastering the art of bingo. When she moved back to Gardner in 2004, her love for life continued to flourish. She found joy in painting and walking at the Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, proving that age is just a number.

Melina's love for her family was her driving force. She is survived by her children, Susan (Jean) Therriault, Peter (Midge) Stone, Thomas Stone, and Nancy (Andrew Evans) Stone. She was also the proud grandmother of Kate Danziger, Kelly Botha, Elizabeth Smithburg, Megan Molteni, Grace Molteni, and Thomas Molteni. Her spirit will continue to live on through her great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Aidan Danziger, Olivia, Peter, and Beau Smithburg. She is preceded in death by her parents, Achille and Rosalie Lison, and her loving husband, Philip Stone.
