Athol-Marylou (Carpenter) Barrett, 69, died Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at her home after an illness.

She was the wife of 50 years to the late Bruce Edward Barrett, Sr. who died on March 19, 2022.

They were married on August 24, 1971. She leaves her four children, Tawnya Hilts and her husband, Joe of Camden, NY, Bruce E. Barrett, Jr and his wife Christy of Athol, Jamie Barrett and his wife Rachel of Athol, and Heath Barrett and his wife Linda of Keene, NH; five grandchildren, Joel Wilkey, Sr, Cody Wilkey, Diziree Barrett, Ryan Bailey, and Samantha Howard; four great-grandchildren, Joel Wilkey, Jr, Remmington "Remmi" Wilkey, Lexxington "Lexxi" Wilkey, and Joey Wilkey; one sister, Patricia Vittorio of Phoenix, NY; two brothers, Donald Carpenter, Sr, and his wife Brenda, and Warren Carpenter and his wife Lucille all of Orange and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by two grandchildren, Mariah Wilkey, and Cory Wilkey; two nephews, Lloyd Newton, and Eric Newton; three brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law; her father-in-law, and mother-in-law, Wallace and Orianna (Ledoux) Barrett and a daughter-in-law Tammy Barrett.

Marylou was born in Keene, NH on September 16, 1953, a daughter of Henry and Isabelle (Rice) Dinigian.

She attended Ralph C. Mahar Regional High School.

She enjoyed taking walks with Bruce, crocheting, reading, watching crime dramas, doing crossword puzzles, cross stitching, and puzzles. Marylou was a sweet woman with a soft heart for people in need. Her greatest joy came from cooking and caring for her family, being a grandma and just spending time with her family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2023 starting at 1:00 p.m. in celebration of Marylou and Bruce's 52nd Wedding anniversary at 2 Athol-Richmond Rd, Royalston, MA 01368
