Mary (Powers) Lawsky

May 7, 1908 — November 9, 2005

Mary  (Powers)  Lawsky, 97 formerly of 419 Fairview Ave., died Wednesday, November 9, 2005 in the Leo LaChance Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Gardner, MA.      She was born in Hudson on May 7, 1908, the daughter of the late Thomas and the late Margaret (McCool) Powers.  She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Alfred Lawsky, who died in 1995.        She grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School in 1927.  She worked in the L. S. Starrett Co. Office in the 1930´s and then worked in the Athol Veteran´s Office for many years.  She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church for many years and was a past President of the St. Francis Womens Guild, as well as being a member of the Daughter´s of Isabella.      She leaves one son, Thomas A. Lawsky of Orange; one sister, Hazel Comstock of Athol; two Grandchildren, Terri White of Gardner, and Lynn Lawsky of Winchendon; and two Great Grandchildren, Erika White and Kerri White of Gardner.      A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 101 Main St., Athol with Rev. Adam Reid officiating.  Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery.  There are no calling hours.      In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Leo P. LaChance Center for Nursing and Rehabiliation - Activity Fund 59 Eastwood Circle, Gardner, MA 01440 or to the Athol Memorial Hospital 2033 Main St., Athol, MA 01331.      J.
