Mary “Connie” Perry, 91, of Vero Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026. Born on December 10, 1934, in Windsor, Ontario, to Harry and Irene Langlois, Connie was truly the life of the party and a bright light to everyone who knew her.
At the age of 16, Connie was stricken with Polio. She spent the next 6 months flat on her back receiving therapy, and the Dr said she would never walk again. She was determined to show him! She was fortunate to be able to rehab at the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation in Georgia. After years of hard work, she was able to walk without leg braces.
Connie met the love of her life, Bob, at a cousin’s graduation party in the States. Despite her father’s playful prediction that a cross-border romance wouldn’t last, Bob prevailed, and after his 2-year deployment in Korea, they married on October 15, 1955. Connie and Bob raised three children, starting in Ferndale, then 35 years in Clawson, Michigan, sharing 40 wonderful years of marriage before Bob passed away in 1995.
Connie possessed a wonderful sense of humor and an unmatched zest for life. An avid bridge and card player, she loved to laugh, gather with others, and find joy in every day. Most recently, she brought her vibrant energy to an independent living community in Vero Beach, Florida, where she thoroughly enjoyed playing cards, live music, and happy hours.
Effortlessly everyone’s favorite – whether as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, or loyal friend – Connie will be dearly missed by all. Her laughter leaves a lasting legacy in the hearts of everyone who shared a drink, a song, or a game of cards with her.
Connie marveled that she lived to 91, she would say, she had a great life, despite being a cripple, you know!
Connie is survived by: her son, Ric (Becky) Perry of Gardner, MA, their daughters Rene’ and Nikki (Travis) Fletcher; her daughter, Shelly (Jeff) Green of Vero Beach, FL, their children Kayla, Scott, and Taylor; her son, Ray (Ann) Perry of Clawson, MI, their daughters Brandy and Katie (Kyle) Raymond. She was the proud great-grandmother of Perry, Tallie-Jo, and Trenton Fletcher, and Ella Raymond. Also, a special cousin and lifelong friend, Mary Carney, the last of the Killer Aunts.
A celebration of life will be held later this summer.
