Marcia L. Flanagan was born on August 21, 1945, in Gardner, Massachusetts, to Edward and Mary Flanagan.
She was a proud member of the Gardner High School graduating class of nineteen sixty-three. She passed away peacefully at her home on July 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving daughter, Amanda, and son-in-law, Anthony, with her faithful dog, Mac, and cat, Miss Kitty, by her side.
She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Mary Flanagan, as well as her brothers, Richard and Craig Flanagan.
Marcia worked as a licensed practical nurse and found her calling in private home care, especially when caring for children. She gave her whole heart to it. In her early years after nursing school, Marcia took off on a bold adventure, sailing and doing yacht deliveries through the Caribbean. It was a time of freedom and discovery that spoke to her independent spirit and love for the ocean.
She also enjoyed beagling with her father and brothers in her younger years-a pastime that brought her close to nature and the dogs she adored. Marcia was a strong, one-of-a-kind woman-fiercely strong-willed, and full of quiet resilience. Her presence left a mark on everyone she met. She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Basso, and son-in-law, Anthony Basso, both of Swansey, New Hampshire; her beloved grandchildren, Ivy Basso and Connor Basso; and her step-granddaughter, Tyra Harris, along with Tyra's husband, Cameron Harris, and three great grandchildren-Cody,
Cole, and Cassidy Harris-all of Swansey, New Hampshire, formerly of Spanish Point, Bermuda. Marcia had a deep love for animals and spent her life surrounded by them. In the summertime, she could often be found behind the wheel of her beloved 1958 MGA, affectionately named Ruby, with her faithful dog, Stella, riding shotgun and the wind in her hair. She also had a passion for gardening and antiques. After years of diving into the Brimfield craziness, she enjoyed running a few antique booths across New England.
