Margaret H. Legere

September 9, 1926 — December 12, 2023

Templeton

   September 9, 1926 - December 12, 2023

Templeton, MA -Margaret Legere (Marg) of Templeton MA, born Margaret Helen Oke in Moncton NB Canada to George and Esther Oke, September 9, 1926 passed peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of December 12, 2023 after a brief illness at age 97.

Marg was predeceased by her husband Earl Legere after 66 years of marriage who she loved since her earliest days as a soda jerk and throughout their true love and their life together and beyond.  She was also predeceased by their son Michael Leger, 2 brothers, Frederick and Robert, and 3 sisters Anna, Ruth, and Esther.  She leaves 4 children Peggy Allen Therrien and her husband Steven, Elizabeth Luchford and her husband David, James Legere and his wife Maria, Karen Kelley, and Michael’s wife Vernnese, also 11 Grandchildren, and many more Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren.

Marg was a true organizer from her secretarial education and experience, working as a switchboard operator at Fitchburg’s Burbank Hospital and as a Girl Scout leader and project coordinator. Praised for her efforts on Project Earth Day and for her community spirit and organizational skills. She was also depended upon as a role model and problem solver that husband Earl relied as his personal GPS for many family travels, and as his true compass as GSP, ‘God’s Spiritual Planner’ for their shared life together.

Margaret was faithfully devoted to Jesus and was involved in women’s Aglow and enjoyed all forms of Christian music and especially music played on guitar by her son Jim and happily sang along on each Sunday’s visit.  Margaret was creative as a self taught artist of paintings and crafts, she danced the Hully-Gully and especially enjoyed line dancing with her 3 sisters and her cherished Florida friends. She treasured her family events and all that she and Earl created together and now leave as their legacy. We are all blessed for her family values and strong integrity. Her warm and generous spirit was loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.

Final arrangements will be made at a later date for both Margaret and Earl to be interned together at a time in the Spring at the discretion of the family at Pine Grove Cemetery in Templeton, MA
