Madeleine Ruth (Thatcher) Thiem from Ormond Beach, Florida, formally from Athol, MA passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026

Born January 21, 1934, Daughter of the late Stanley and Marion (Evans) Thatcher. The wife of Walter W Thiem, who passed away in 2007.

She Graduated from Athol High School, worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone for 3 years. Retired from Duall Plastics after 26 years in 1996.

Madeleine was a member of the Athol Congregational Church and worked on many church fairs throughout the years. She was a past President of Athol Golden Agers and Mount Grace AARP Chapter 3673 and enjoyed going to the casino and playing bingo and her many trips to see my family in Athol, MA, Wisconsin, and Michigan.

She spent the last several years living with her daughter, Margaret, and AJ in Ormond Beach, Florida.

She leaves behind her children Alice Holmes, and husband Robert from Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Margaret Bodenrader, and husband AJ from Ormond Beach, Florida, Deborah Keresey, and husband Michael, Robert Thiem and wife Lynn from Athol, and William Thiem, and wife Katherine from Freemont, Wisconsin. Grandchildren Michael Ferrari, Greta Ferrari and her husband Derek Ashmore, Matthew Ferrari and wife Megan, Marya-Lyn (Cromwell) Fleming and husband Shawn, Kevin Cromwell, Seth Brousseau, Joslyn (Thiem) May and husband Scott, Jordyn (Thiem) Dockstader and husband Zackary, Jaret Thiem and wife Anna, Jeffrey Thiem, Jamison Thiem and wife Laura, Jonathan Thiem and wife Samantha and Zachary Thiem and wife Jane. Great-Grandchildren: Morgan Ashmore, Rocco, Leo, and Hazel Cromwell, Christina, Christian, Delilah, Briella, and Jolene Fleming, Grayson, Logan, and Mackenzie May, Warren, Wade, and Oscar Thiem, Wren Thiem, August and Otto Thiem, Eloise Dockstader, Walter Thiem, and 3 more coming in 2026, along with my 1st great-great-grandchild and well as several nieces and nephews.

Her brother Richard Thatcher and his wife, Masumi, and brother Ronald Thatcher have all passed away as well as her Sister-in-law Susan Thatcher.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Athol Congregational Church, 1225 Chestnut St., Athol, MA.

A Burial will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery, Silver Lake Street, Athol, MA.

Mack Family Funeral Home, Athol-Orange Chapel, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange, MA is assisting with arrangements.
