It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Louise Marie Hamel, fondly known to many as "Weezie", on May 8, 2026. Born on June 27, 1963, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Louise's life was a testament to the power of dedication, humor, compassion, and intellect. As Saint Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 16:14, "Let all that you do be done in love." Louise embodied this verse, pouring love into all that she did, from her professional accomplishments to her everyday interactions with friends and family.
Louise's career in banking was characterized by her unwavering dedication and smart acumen. As a Financial Specialist at Worker’s Credit Union, she was recognized numerous times for her outstanding performance in financial coaching and credit card services. Her compassionate nature shone through as she built genuine relationships with members, always striving to uplift those she served. Her professional achievements, impressive as they were, paled in comparison to the joy she derived from her hobbies. Louise was a woman of many passions; she loved building Legos with her husband Stephen, indulging in arts & crafts with her grandchildren, camping, visiting the ocean, and playing cornhole. Her infectious laughter and funny antics turned ordinary moments into cherished memories.
Louise's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of love and laughter. She was a beloved wife to Stephen Hamel, a devoted mother to Alicia Bedard and Andre Bedard, and to their spouses, Donald Maynard and Erin Bedard. She was a doting grandmother to Elizabeth, Dominic, Eli, Alex, Jayden, Lucas, Emma, Anthony, Dahlia, and Maya. She was the rock of the family, her strength and love serving as the foundation upon which many happy memories were made. She also has many brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andre and Rachel Croteau. Louise's life was a testament to the belief that what matters most in life is making the lives of those around us better. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the joy and love she brought to our lives.
