It is with great sadness that we share the news of the peaceful passing of Lenard Everett Lucier on April 12th, 2026.
He will be lovingly remebered by his wife of 27 years, Patricia Lawton, daughters: Molly Lucier (Craig Ferguson), Julie Lucier (Christian Dibble) and Kate Smith; grandchildren; Birch, Cypress, and Linden Ambrose, Soleme' and Everly Dibble; sisters; Ada Lepage and Carol Eaton along with many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers Henry, Earle, Butch, Nelson and sisters Helen, Francies, Ruth, Rose, and son-in-law Toby Smith.
Len was born in Gardner on June 17th 1947 to Henry and Jennie Lucier of Templeton, MA, the 2nd to youngest of 11 siblings. Immediately after graduating from Narragansett Regional High School in 1966 he enlisted in the Army, serving in Europe driving transport trucks during the Vietnam War. Upon his return to the area he lived in Phillipston on a small farm raising Molly and Julie with his former wife, Jacqueline (m. Ambrose). Over the years he cleared land and built a barn (by himself). He enjoyed having large gardens, many animals, and tinkering in the barn after work with oldies on the radio. There were annual New Years Day hikes in the woods, cows and pigs being born, trips to get hay, swimming at Queen Lake, and week long trips to the beach.
In 1993 Len met Pat and moved back to Templeton where he lovingly took in Kate as his youngest daughter. He built a koi pond with a double waterfall and continued his gardening there. He worked with local hvac companies his entire career as an oil burner technician and service manager. With the help of Pat, he started his own business 'Lenny's Heating.' They have great memories of going to weekend long bluegrass festivals, meeting new people on thier cruise, visiting Mayan ruins, snorkeling, kayaking in the ocean, and more beach trips with the growing family. There were also road trips to visit Molly and her family in Virginia. Len loved life, gardening (not to exclude composting), bluegrass music, dancing, and telling a good story or joke. No one could match his delivery of a good joke, including practical jokes.
He enjoyed helping people and everyone loved him. When he went out to lunch or made a quick trip to the store, it often took 2-3 hours, running into family, friends and customers. He touched the lives of many with his unique sense of humor, blend of warmth, wisdom, and sincerity. He will be affectionately remembered.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 11 am in the Mack Family Funeral Home, Gardner Chapel, 105 Central St., Gardner. Burial will private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, friends and family are invited to donate to Montachusett Vererans Outreach Center or charity of their choice in Lenny's name.
