We celebrate the life of the creative, funny, spirited, and loving Katherine Rose Smith, born on February 3, 1958, in Gardner, MA. Katherine, affectionately known as Kay, was a woman of extraordinary warmth, a beacon of love and laughter who lived her life with an infectious zest. She left an indelible impression on all those fortunate enough to know her vibrant personality and share in her boundless love for life.
Katherine was a devoted mother and grandmother, dedicating her life to the well-being of her family, turning the ordinary into extraordinary through her unique blend of humor and creativity. A lover of music, the melodies of rock and metal often echoed throughout her home, a testament to her spirited and lively character. She was also an ardent collector of fairies, pirates, and mushrooms, her collections mirroring her eclectic and whimsical personality. Her greatest achievement, however, was her family, whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally. In the words of George Bernard Shaw, "Life is not about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself." Katherine created a life filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories, and for that, she will forever be cherished.
Katherine is survived by her daughter Nichole Morrissey and granddaughters Autumn Wilson and Alice Morrissey. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Ballentine, mother, Leona Ballentine, loving husband, Charles Smith; and her daughter, Shannon Smith. Her love and legacy live on in the hearts of those she left behind, a testament to a life well-lived and a woman well-loved. As she always said, "Always say 'I love you' before leaving, because you never know what will happen."
