Judith A. (Satas) LaCroix, age 69, of Hubbardston, Massachusetts, passed away on October 10, 2026 after a brief illness. Born on May 1, 1957, Judy grew up in Hudson, MA and graduated from Hudson High School in 1975.
After graduation, Judy was hard-working, compassionate, and creative both at work and at home raising her two children. Her former employment included crafting moccasins at Arrow Moccasin Company in Hudson, working at McDonald’s, and serving as a direct care provider assisting clients with physical and mental disabilities at North Central Human Services.
Judy could make anyone smile but relished the quiet of living in the woods. She had a deep connection to nature and love for all living things. Her favorite pastimes included leatherworking, birdwatching, and feeding the neighborhood wildlife—especially her favorite chipmunk, “Chippy,” as well as the occasional visiting raccoon, fox, or bear. Judy had an open heart and spirit: she believed in magic, the power of crystals, out-of-body experiences, protective bubbles, and felt comforted by her enduring Christian faith.
Judy was predeceased by her parents, Wallace and Shirley Satas, and by her brother, Daniel Satas.
She is survived by her son, Jason LaCroix, his wife Rachel Belloma, and their daughter Lucia LaCroix of Pittsburgh, PA; her daughter, Jessica Luoma of Gardner, MA; and her brother, John Satas and his wife Cindy. She also leaves behind her nieces and nephew—Amy Morrison and her husband Colby, Alyssa Greener and her husband Kevin, and Alden Satas—along with several great-nieces, great-nephews, and many dear friends.
