Joseph A. Kaczmarczyk, age 86, of Athol passed away at home on September 2, 2026 with his wife and son by his side. For 52 years he was the loving husband of Shirley (Sanger) Kaczmarczyk. Joe was born on August 25, 1940, in Athol, MA, the son of the late Severina (Bosco) and Anthony Kaczmarczyk, Sr.

Joe graduated from Athol High School, Class of 1958, and he continued his education through an apprenticeship. He worked in sales and quotations for over fifty years for former tool companies of Union Twist Drill and Niagara Cutter - Athol.

Joe will be remembered for his affinity for horses and horseracing. He enjoyed going to Hinsdale, Scarborough Downs, and Saratoga with his friend Joe Neri to bet on the horses. Joe also enjoyed birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays with his family. He enjoyed going out to eat with friends, especially Wednesday Club, usually ordering pizza.

Joe was a member of the Athol-Orange Elks Club and Athol Knights of Columbus. He was on an All-Star Little League Team, and his father told him he would give him $10 for every homerun - he got one! Joe also coached Little League. He belonged to the Athol Council on Aging Memory Cafe Dementia Group. Joe enjoyed the monthly meetings and the new friends he made.

In addition to his wife, Shirley, Joe is survived by his son Steven; brothers Sam (Joan), Anthony Jr. (Patricia), and Thomas; sisters-in-law Cynthia Kaczmarczyk, Sheila McGuire (Michael), and Margaret Mottashed; and many nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his parents, sister-in-law, Kay, and youngest brother, Danny.

Joe’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Mack Family Funeral Homes, Athol-Orange Chapel, 110 New Athol Road, Orange, MA on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 8:30-10:00 am. 

A procession will then leave the funeral home for the 10:30AM Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Immaculate Church, School Street, Athol, MA.

Interment will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Athol Council on Aging Memory Cafe, a group that supports individuals with Dementia, at 82 Freedom Street, Athol.
