JOSEPH BARILONE ATHOL-Joseph Barilone, 84, of 207 Drury Ave., died suddenly Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, after being admitted to Athol Memorial Hospital. He leaves his wife of 54 years, Theresa (Fortin) Barilone; five children: Michael Barilone and his wife Jane of Auburn, Alabama, Tony Barilone of Orange; John Barilone and his wife Lynne of Athol; Ann Benard and her husband Gene of Ashburnham; and Frank Barilone and his friend Nicole Smith of Orange; four sisters, Mary Blake and Camaline Keach, both of Athol; Rose Waid of Winchendon; and Antoinette Etter of Sedona, Arizona; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A brother, Dominic Bariloni, and two sisters, Phyllis Demarest and Rose Barilone, predeceased him. He was born in Athol, July 19, 1918, a son of Antonio and Dora (Maselli) Barilone, and was a lifelong resident of town. He attended Athol schools. A United States Army veteran of World War II, he entered the service on Jan 11, 1941 serving as a Technician Fifth Grade and in Northern France and the Rhineland in the European Theater. He was discharged June 30, 1945. Mr. Barilone worked for the Erving Paper Mills for 42 years, retiring in 1987 from the maintenance department. He was a member of Our Lady Immaculate Church. He enjoyed cooking and was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. The funeral, with full military honors, will be held Saturday from the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main Street, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are 9 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday. The family suggests donations be made to the Edward H.
