John P LePoer

SPENCER – John P. LePoer, 94 of Spencer, formerly of Petersham, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021 in Life Care Center of Auburn. John was born on February 25, 1927 in Petersham to the late Bernard A. LePoer and the late Myrtle (Barnes) LePoer. He grew up in Petersham, graduating from Petersham High School. He enlisted in the Air Force, serving for 2 years in the U. S. 200th AAF BU Peterson Field Colo. He went on to study at Springfield College, and graduated from Worcester State and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. John was a teacher at Worcester Academy, Petersham High School where he taught math & science, Petersham Center School as a 6th grade teacher and Principal. He formed the Petersham Council on Aging, was a Library Trustee, a member of the Historical Society, Unitarian Church and the Petersham Craft Center. John was an avid Red Sox, Patriot and Celtic fan. He enjoyed playing basketball. He is survived by his wife: Ann (Withington) LePoer of Spencer, two daughters: JoAnn LePoer, Lynn LePoer Dobson; two grandchildren: Benjamin I. Dobson, Andrew I. Dobson. He was predeceased by four brothers: Frederick Coolidge, Earle Coolidge, Roger Coolidge, Bernard A. LePoer Jr.; and four sisters: Marion Coolidge Russel, Grace Coolidge Barnes, Myrtle LePoer King, May Margarite LePoer MacDonnell. Services will be announced at a later date.
