It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John M. Hains, born on July 7, 1957, in Athol, Massachusetts. John departed from this world just one day shy of his 69th birthday, on July 6, 2026. He spent his years living in the heart of Gardner, Massachusetts, where he was known and loved by many. Never married, John was an individual of strong will and independence. He was a hard worker. He held residence in both Fitchburg and Gardner, was known for both his dedication to his career and to his community.
John was a man of many talents, a true Jack of all trades. He was an enthusiastic Special Olympian, taking great joy in participating in basketball and floor hockey games. When not on the court or the rink, he could be found engrossed in solving puzzles, a hobby that kept his mind sharp and engaged. His truck was his pride and joy, a symbol of his love for the open road and the freedom it represented. He is survived by his beloved significant other of 39 years, Linda Murphy his siblings, Robert Barboza, Cynthia (Mac) Robinson, Frank (Lottie) Hains, Timothy (Lyn) Hains, Gladys Falkner (Jody), Richard Hains and many nieces and nephews.
