ATHOL- John P Alexakis,97, died Sunday, August 28, 2022, at his home in Athol.

He was born in Athol on August 22, 1925, a son of the late Perley Alexakis and Pauline (Pappas) Alexakis.

John grew up in Athol and has lived there his entire life. He attended Athol High School where he graduated in 1943. He served in the US Navy during WWII.

He had several jobs which included Girardi Distributors for 15 years, Athol Manufacturing Co.,  L.S. Starrett Company, Sullivan Landscaping, and lastly becoming an engineer for Athol Memorial Hospital for 15 years. He retired in 1987. Following retirement, he and his wife Beatrice spent many winters in Myrtle Beach, SC, and Deerfield Beach, Florida.

John was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Fitchburg, The Athol-Orange Elks Lodge of Elks # 1837 since 1950, the Ellinwood Country Club, and the former Athol Boosters Club. He enjoyed his family, fishing, and playing golf.

He is survived by his Son, Michael Alexakis, his wife Patricia of Haysville, NC; two Daughters, Catherine Lyesiuk and her husband Gene of Athol; Susan Morizzo and her husband Paul of Leominster. Eight grandchildren, Kelly Ramos, Erik Lyesiuk, Alexis King, Ashley Berry, Michael and Nicholas Alexakis, Mike and Nicholas Morizzo; thirteen great-grandchildren, Jagger, Ariana, Kaeden, Jacob, Athena, Nicholas, Niko, Mia, Lucas, Neil, Mia, Ashley,and Will, as well as a  brother Sam Alexakis of Deerfield Beach, FL.

John is predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Beatrice (Theriault), a grandson, Neil Lyesiuk, and a daughter-in-law Theresa Alexakis.

At the family's request, a private funeral service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in John's memory be made to the charity of one's choice.
