GARDNER - Jean Margaret (Johnson) Murray, 88 of Gardner, died Saturday, April 23, 2022, at the home of her daughter, Cynthia.
She was born in Gardner on April 26, 1933, the daughter of the late Ivan Johnson and the late Muriel (Robbins) Johnson.
Jean was a 1951 graduate of Gardner High School. She resided most of her life in Gardner and was a member of the former Sacred Heart Church and a current member of Annunciation Parish - Holy Rosary Church. Jean was a former Girl Scout and Brownie Leader, she worked and volunteered at many church bazaars, taught CCD, organized the Santa Social, Mardi Gras Dinner. She was well known for her Swedish meatballs and Swedish coffee bread. Jean traveled extensively with her husband Francis, she was blessed and enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and their spouses.
Jean was employed as an Inspector at Simplex Timer Recorder for 22 years until her retirement in 1995. She formerly worked for 20 years at the Old Mill Restaurant in Westminster.
She leaves two daughters, Kay Gonyeo of Pelham, NH, Cynthia Murray of Gardner; one son, Francis A. Murray, Jr. of Gardner; ten grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Francis A. Murray, by her daughter, Sharon Butler; by a brother, Ivan Johnson, Jr.; by her five sisters, Bernice Babineau, Edith Erickson, Edna Miller, her twin sister, Joan Halfrey and Ann LeBlanc.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 29, 2022, at 11:00 am in Annunciation Parish - Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Friday, April 29, 2022, from 9:15 - 10:15 a.m. at the Mack Family Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in her memory to Care Central VNA & Hospice, Inc., 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440.
