Jean Marie Desrosiers, a remarkable woman of strength, grace, and unending love, passed away on May 10, 2025, leaving a rich legacy of a life well-lived. Born in Gardner, Massachusetts, on September 25, 1943, Jean spent her life dedicated to her family, her beloved community of Orange, Massachusetts, and the countless lives she touched along her journey.
Jean was an amazing woman of many talents. Jean started and ran Small Frye Family Day Care for over 20 years. She poured love into many families' lives besides her own. After closing the daycare, she worked at and retired from UMass Amherst, where she served as a Records and Registration Clerk. Upon retiring, she poured her heart and soul into her favorite pastimes of quilting, sewing, baking, and canning. Her skillful hands created beautiful works of art and yummy treats that were expressions of her love for those around her. Jean was also a faithful servant to her community, often seen serving the homeless and crafting beautiful items for those in need. A dedicated member of the Crossroads Church and Bloom Life Group, Jean's love and compassion truly knew no bounds.
Jean is survived by her loving children, Diane Goulette and husband William, Richard Gore Jr. and wife Pearl, Lisa Campbell, Jennifer Plotner and husband Steffen, grandchildren Joshua, Jenna, Michael, Richard III, John, Richard, Colten, Grayson, Alex, Emilia, and Annika, and 16 great-grandchildren who will forever cherish her memory and honor her legacy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Estelle Roussel, her beloved husband, Robert Desrosiers, and her son, Kevin Gore.
Calling hours to celebrate Jean's life will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Mack Family Funeral Homes, Athol-Orange Chapel, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange, Massachusetts. A reception will be held immediately after at Crossroads Church, 92 New Athol Rd, Orange, MA, for anyone who wants to continue gathering. A Celebration of Life will be held later, and a date will be determined.
Jean Desrosiers' life was a testament to the power of love, service, and creativity. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she loved and the community she served.
