ATHOL-Gladys E. (Choquette) Sinclair, 100, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022 at her home in North Carolina. Gladys was born in Athol, Massachusetts on July 20, 1921, daughter of the late Eugene P. and Nellie M. (Sampson) Choquette. Gladys was raised and spent the majority of her adult life in Athol, MA where she attended local schools including Athol High School, Mt. Wachusett Community College and Greenfield Community College. She retired in 1984 from the L.S. Starrett Company after 26 years of service primarily as an assembler. She was a charter member of the Petersham Curling Club and a past member of the Ellinwood and Petersham Country Clubs, as well as a member of the Athol Congregational Church. She supported and served her community in various capacities such as participating in the Athol Citizen’s Police Academy. She also enjoyed oil painting, crafts and gardening. She and her husband, John shared great pride and devotion to their community. Gladys possessed a deep love and respect for life. Her sense of humor, commitment and her humanity will keep her alive in the hearts of all whose lives she touched. She will be remembered for her dignity and grace by all who were fortunate to know her. She was the beloved wife and cherished companion for 62 years of the late John D. Sinclair who passed away in December of 2000. She is the dear and beloved mother of two predeceased children, Joanne Lignoul and Roy Sinclair. She is survived and will be missed by five grandchildren and their families, including nine great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Sheridan and Lloyd Choquette and four sisters, Irene Nadeau, Mildred Florence, Barbara Warner and Ruth Fellows. Per Gladys’ request, funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol, where she will be laid to rest in eternal peace beside her husband, John. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Athol Congregational Church, 1225 Chestnut Street Athol, MA 01331 or Athol Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, 2033 Main Street Athol, MA 01331.
