Eugene R. Dancause Jr.

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Eugene R. Dancause Jr., 71 of Ashburnham, on January 16, 2026. Born in Winchendon, MA, on November 17, 1954, Gene made a lasting impression on all who met him. A retired computer technician, Eugene was as smart as he was generous, always willing to lend his a helping hand to those in need.

Eugene was a man who knew how to make the most of life. He was just as comfortable under the hood of a car or tractor as he was watching hummingbirds flit about his orchard. His dedication extended to his community where he was an active member of the Ashburnham Lions Club and spent years volunteering for the William J. Bresnahan Scouting and Community Center. For him, being a boy scout wasn't just an achievement from his youth, it was a lifelong commitment upheld even as an assistant leader when his son joined.

Eugene was a proud resident of Ashburnham, Massachusetts, where he enjoyed simple pleasures like watching westerns, building and tinkering, and picking apples from his own orchard. Gene found joy in camping trips to Wolfeboro, NH, and watching the animal shows at the local county fairs. He was a family man through and through, always putting his loved ones first. He leaves behind his beloved wife Jane Dancause and his adored children Theodore and Nicole Dancause. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Dancause Sr. and Rita Dancause, along with his sister Terry Gregerson (Dancause), and brother Ricky Dancause.

Calling hours will be held Friday, January 23rd from 5:00pm to 7:00pm followed by the funeral on Saturday, January 24th at 2:00pm at Mack Family Funeral Homes, Gardner - Chapel, 105 Central Street, Gardner, MA.
