She was one of the first nurses hired at Athol Memorial Hospital and worked there from its opening in 1950 until her retirement. She cared for many family members in their final years, including her mother, husband, brothers, and aunts. She lived her final years with her Niece Lori Mousseau and her husband William Mousseau, where she was surrounded by love from family and pets, she learned to like lots of new foods and never missed an episode of jeopardy. Although she had no children of her own, she was the matriarch of her family and she stepped in as a mother and grandmother to all.
