Eino William Jarvenpaa left this world peacefully on June 8, 2025, surrounded by his family.
He was born on July 25, 1930. Eino lived and worked his entire life in Whitmanville, a village in northern Westminster, Massachusetts. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School in 1950 as a machinist. After graduation, Eino returned home to work alongside his father, Eino Iva Jarvenpaa, at the Whitmanville Farm.
Over the years, Eino built a life centered on hard work and family. He later founded and operated Eion Jarvenpaa and Sons, a sawmill and pallet company, alongside his sons, David and Steven, and his grandson, Aaron. Always full of ideas and energy, Eino never stayed idle for long. In addition to running the sawmill, he operated and drove school buses for Westminster Elementary School-fondly remembered by many as Mr. Jarvenpaa, the man who picked them up each morning.
What began as a way to repurpose low-grade lumber quickly grew into a thriving pallet operation, producing thousands of pallets each day for local businesses. Through his grit and resourcefulness, Eino provided for his family and supported his community.
Though work was his passion, Eino cherished the rare breaks which he spent hunting and fishing with his sons and grandson. He taught Aaron to drive and operate machinery by the time he was just 10 years old - a testament to both his trust and love.
Eino was the cornerstone of a large and devoted family, which he embraced with joy, the more hands to work. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years, Alice Bertha Elola, who passed in July 2016; his son, David Jarvenpass, who died in a tragic sawmill fire in November 2005; and his daughter Brenda Kimball of Washington, who passed in April 2005.
Eino is survived by his children, Cindy Martin and her husband Theodore, Steven Jarvenpaa and his wife Paula, Susan Staitt and her husband Ed Johnson, Taimi Caron and her husband Charles, and Terri Jarvenpaa and her partner, Dan White, all of Westminster.. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Spencer Kimball of Washington.
Eino also leaves twelve grandchildren and their spouses, Robert, Kelly, and Drew, Daniel, Kristen and Erik, Katie and Matt, Doug and Nicole, Aaron and Sara, Jonathan, Victoria, Amber, Allison and Paul, Autumn and Gabe, and two step-grandchildren, Alex and Hollie Waugh.
Heis legacy continues through his many great-grandchildren, Declan, Charlie, Gunner, Brooke, Emma, Finn, Reilly, Paul Patrick, Allie, Olive, Evan, Spenser, Oliver, Mia, and Kalli.
The family farm won't be the same without Eino's wild ideas, persistent spirit, and endless energy. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, ingenuity, and unwavering love for family - a life well-lived and deeply missed.
Eino's family would like to thank his caregiver for the wonderful care he received over the past 8 years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Eino's name to The Westminster Fire Rescue, 7 South Street, Westminster, MA 01473, or HealthAlliance Home Health and Hospice, 60 Hospital Road, Leominster, MA 01453.
