Edgar J Lavoie

November 18, 1939 — August 18, 2023

Westminster

Edgar J Lavoie, a loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away in the company of friends and family on August 18, 2023.  Edgar, or "Baba" as he was known to family, was born on November 18, 1939, in Gardner and resided for over 50 years in the Town of Westminster where he was known and befriended by so many.

He was as comfortable on a tractor with a chainsaw as he was driving a golf cart with a cigarette and made friends wherever he went, which usually was a place that served food.  A man who lived by the motto, "Eat dessert first in case you get too full eating your dinner", never met a cake or a cookie or a pie that he didn't eat with a smile and a cup of coffee.  Edgar and his loving wife Rita would take long drives that he would later map out to others by referencing diners and coffee shops they passed along the way.

Edgar was an accomplished self-employed accounting professional during his long and successful career.  After graduating from Notre Dame High School in 1957, he furthered his education at the New England School of Accounting.  His dedication to and friendship with his clients over the decades had many treating him as one of the family.  A man of many talents, he also created a successful direct mail application and service called "Market Master".   He singlehandedly coded, debugged, and marketed his new application and service.  His idea was proven successful after landing a contract with a Fortune 500 company shortly after he had launched it

He cherished his grandchildren and made many memories with them that they will never forget.

Edgar is survived by his loving daughters, Catherine Bedard, and her husband David of Leominster, and Deborah Lavoie-Overbey and her husband Bill Overbey of Pfafftown, NC; his grandchildren, Matthew Bedard of Lebanon, NH, and Jennifer Bedard of Leominster, and Grace Rosario of Winston-Salem, NC, and David Rosario Ft. Myers, FL, and his caring siblings, Raymond Lavoie and his wife Helena of Marietta, GA, Anna Hebert and her husband Raymond of Tewksbury.  His beloved wife of 60 years, Rita Lavoie, his parents Levite and Ida Lavoie, and his sisters Jeannine Berthiaume, and May Lavoie, preceded him.

Edgar's life was a meaningful journey filled with love, resilience, and dedication. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by his loved ones.
