Douglas B. Young, 74, of Westminster, Massachusetts, passed away on May 19, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Worcester on January 5, 1952, Doug was a humble soul known for his quiet strength, steady reliability, and the care he showed to both his family and his community.
For more than 45 years, Doug owned and operated Doug’s Auto Body in Westminster. Skilled with his hands and deeply committed to doing things the right way, he earned the trust and respect of generations of customers through his integrity, precision, and hard work.
Outside of work, Doug found happiness in the outdoors and in time spent with family and friends. He enjoyed hiking, mountain biking, skiing, snowshoeing, golfing, tractors and haying, classic cars, history, NASCAR, and cheering for the New England Patriots. Whether working in the shop, outdoors, or spending time with loved ones, Doug appreciated life’s simple pleasures.
Above all else, family was the center of Doug’s life. He was the devoted husband of Roberta Young, with whom he shared nearly 40 years of marriage. He was a loving father to his sons, Nathan Young and his wife, Jane, and Calvin Young, a proud grandfather to Nathan and Jane’s daughter, Hollis, and excited to welcome their son later this year.
Doug is also survived by his siblings: Deborah Mykel, Joanne DiNardo and her husband, Richard; Allan Young and his wife, Bobbi; Kenan Young; Philip Young and his wife, Nancy; and Daniel Young and his wife, Ann Marie, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Marion Young, and by his brother, Everett Young.
Doug will be remembered for his humility, resilience, strong work ethic, and the kindness and dependability that defined his life. His memory will live on in the family he loved, the friendships he built, and the community he served for so many years.
Funeral services and burial will be private. The family will be having a memorial gathering in Doug's memory on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 4 to 7 pm at The Colonial Hotel, 625 Betty Spring Road, Gardner, and warmly welcomes friends, family, and all who knew him to attend.
Friends and family are invited to share memories and photos in celebration of Doug’s life.
