Dorothy C. Bunker, aged 97, passed away peacefully on March 26,2026 at home in Hubbardston, MA. Dorothy, although born in Boston MA on January 20, 1929, always called Matinicus Island ME her home. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Charles W. Ballem and Catherine F. (McIntyre) Ballem. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert M. Bunker, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories and love. Dorothy's legacy continues through her daughters Linda M. Bunker of Hubbardston MA and Catherine L. White of Edwards MO. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren Heidi Jo Pulkkinen of Hubbardston MA, Barry D. White, Jr. of Edwards MO, Albert T. White of Mobile, AL, Lorena A. White of Round Rock TX, and Travis White of Eldon, MO, as well as 10 great grandchildren. She waspredeceased by her daughter Diane C. Pulkkinen and her husband Joseph Pulkkinen,as well as her granddaughter Michelle D. Pulkkinen. Dorothy was also predeceased by her sisters Rita Melia, Irene Brayson, Marion O’Regan and her husband Willliam O’Regan, and Florence Schisler. Dorothy also leaves several nieces and nephews.  Dorothy graduated from Winthrop High School in 1948 and was working for the telephone company as an operator before marrying Albert M. Bunker on October 11,1950. She moved from Winthrop MA to Matinicus Island ME where she made a home for her and her family for the next 75 years. Those who knew Dorothy will remember her as someone who loved her family, loved her home on Matinicus, loved to talk, was a fantastic cook, and was very artistic. She was a very talented knitter, seamstress, and painter. She was also very creative when it came to making toys for her children or other homemade gifts such as flower bouquets made from nylon and Christmas ornaments made out of painted and decorated starfish and seashells.
