Leominster, formerly of Gardner, Densmore (Denny) Wayne Darling, 88, died Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Manor on the Hill Assisted Living in Leominster.
He was born in Gardner, on May 3, 1934, a son of the late Frank M. and Florence A. (Brown) Darling. He was a lifelong resident of Gardner. He was the husband of the late Florence (Rogers) Darling.
He leaves nieces and nephews, Steven Darling of Gardner, Michael Darling of Bouctouche Bay, NB, Dave Darling of Sebastian, FL, and Dawn Long of Naples, FL.
Densmore is predeceased by two brothers Francis Darling, Russell Darling, and a sister Virginia Zillis and her husband John; niece Jackie (Rogers) Boone who always made sure Denny was cared for after his wife’s passing.
Jim and Gisele Boone, of Gardner, were his dedicated caregivers for several years. In the later years, they couldn’t have done it without the help of Denise Gosselin and the staff at Manor on the Hill. They said he will be missed as he made them smile with his sense of humor.
Denny was a 1952 graduate of Gardner High School. He served in the US Army, from 1957 to 1962. He worked as a superintendent of Quality Control for the S. Bent Bros. Furniture Co. for 47 years. He also worked for the Gardner News in the Camera Room for five years prior to his retirement.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, scenery, bike riding, and especially loved traveling in his van all over the New England backroads.
