LAMPASAS, TEXAS- Charles A. Sylvester, 89, of Lampasas, Texas, formally of Gardner, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2020. Charles was born in Lowell on December 17, 1930, son of the late George and Lucy (Sayball) Sylvester.
Charles attended Gardner High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954. He was the former owner of the West Street Service Center for 30 years. Charles was a member of various organizations including the Winchendon Legion, Gardner VFW, Lunenburg Sportsman Club, MA Field Archery Association, National Field Archery Association, and NRA. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by; his wife C. Patricia (Fitzpatrick) Sylvester of Lampasas, TX; a son, David Sylvester and his wife Kathy of North Carolina; two step sons, Dr. Paul Benoit and his wife Cathy of Westerly, RI; Fran Benoit and his partner Kimberly Russell of Gladstone, Missouri; a daughter, Jane Lyons of Gardner; a brother, Paul Sylvester of Gardner; three sisters; Patty Miller of Harker Heights, TX; Shirley Gauthier of Gardner; Joyce Tyson of CO; seven grandchildren; Nichole Lyons of Leominster, Deric Benoit of Gladstone, Missouri, Alexander Benoit , Marguerite Benoit, and Abigail Benoit of Westerly, RI, Brianna Benoit of Gardner, and Joseph Benoit of Gardner; one great grand child Ryley Vanderlinden of Leominster as well as several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his son George C. Sylvester.
Services are private. Private burial will be at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon.
