With peaceful hearts our family announces the passing of Charles Mitchell on May 28, 2024.  Charles was born on December 13, 1942, in Montague, MA.

A resilient figure, Charles was known for his loving nature and his thoughtful actions that always put others before himself. He resided in Athol, MA, at the time of his passing.

Charles was an employee at the Starrett Tool Company, working as a screw machine operator until his retirement in 2004. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Charles held his service to his country in high regard. His love for adventure found an outlet in his hobbies of traveling, hunting, and fishing, and he always enjoyed his trips to the casino and playing scratch tickets. Charles was also a member of the Petersham Gun Club. Despite his various interests, what mattered most to Charles was his family, especially his beloved wife, Sally, whom he married on May 26, 1990.

Charles is survived by his wife, Sally Mitchell; his son, Chad (Yuko) Mitchell; his daughter, Tobi (Ted) Guinard; and his brother, Joseph (Janet) Mitchell. Charles was blessed with six grandchildren and four great grand children, along with several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his son, Neil Mitchell; his sister Jane Sampson; his granddaughter, Gabrielle Longchamps; and his parents, Charles and Reda (Fifield) Mitchell.

Charles was a beacon of love and support in the lives of those he touched. His resilient spirit and thoughtful heart will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the lives of those he loved.

We invite you to share your memories of Charles and upload photos to the memorial page. Your stories and pictures will serve as a tribute to Charles's loving and supportive life.

A service will take place at a later date.
