Athol

Cathy Muzzy, a caring and dedicated member of the Athol community, passed away on September 10, 2026. Born on December 7, 1947, in Gardner, MA, Cathy was a beacon of love and support who dedicated her life to serving others. Throughout her life, she embraced opportunities to make a difference in the lives of those around her. Cathy was a devoted wife, married on September 11, 1965, and a loving mother, continually putting her family at the center of her universe.

Cathy's professional journey was as diverse as it was fulfilling. A special needs aide with the Athol School System, her nurturing spirit brought comfort and hope to many families. She also served the community as a dispatcher with the Orange Police Department and a ward clerk at the Athol Memorial Hospital. She was elected to the Athol Housing Authority, was a clerk for the Athol Conservation Commission, and volunteered for the Friends of the Council on Aging, making a profound impact on the community she so dearly loved.

In her leisure time, Cathy found joy in reading, crocheting, and baking cookies, infusing each activity with the same dedication and love she brought to all aspects of her life. But of all her roles, being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother brought her the most joy. Cathy leaves behind a legacy of love and service, survived by her husband, Robert Muzzy, her son Daniel and his wife Jill, daughter Wendy and her husband Michael, grandchildren Dylan, Caitlin and her husband Blayne, Olivia and Allison, great-granddaughter Sophia, brothers Gary and Phil Griffith, and sisters-in-law Katherine and Mary Griffith. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Marion Griffith.

We invite you to share your memories and upload photos of Cathy to the memorial page below, as we remember her loving spirit and the positive impact she had on us all.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Bread of Life Church, 22 State Rd. E., Westminster, MA 01473.
