February 7, 1940 — January 18, 2022

ATHOL- Carol Ann Nichols, 81 of Metropolitan Court in Athol, passed away at the Athol Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. She was born in Fitchburg, MA on February 7, 1940, the daughter of Norman and Edith Lawton. Carol could usually be found in her garden working hard, where she enjoyed planting and maintaining a multitude of plants and flowers. Among being outside in her garden beds, she also enjoyed being outside to just sit and relax. Carol enjoyed reading her Bible and studying the word of God, playing cards, cooking, and a beautiful sunset. Carol loved her country, a true patriot who prayed for this country and every president who served it. She devoted her life to raising her family who loved her dearly. She took interest in all that her family was going through. Carol was a modest woman, gentle in her ways and will be sincerely missed. Among her survivors, Carol leaves her children, Debra Wilson of Rhode Island, Scott Rocci, Richard and Matthew Nichols of Massachusetts; her siblings, Gary Lawton and Lisa DeSouza of Massachusetts, Daun Tedford of Tennessee, Roger Lawton of Iowa and David Lawton of California; and six grandchildren. Carol leaves behind family knowing that they were loved and she left loved by her family. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 11:00am, Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol.
