We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Carol Costa, who left us on August 16, 2026, just shy of her 79th birthday. Born in Orange, MA on November 30, 1947, Carol was a beacon of light and love, whose infectious laughter and unwavering kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Carol was a woman of many passions, but none surpassed her love for her family and friends. She raised her children with an unwavering dedication and grace that was nothing short of inspiring. She was a woman of great strength and resilience, whose love and devotion knew no bounds. In the words of Helen Keller, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Carol embodied this sentiment, touching the hearts of all around her with her boundless compassion and empathy.

She is survived by her children, Michael Costa and his wife Nikki of Templeton, MA Wayne and his wife Chris of Athol, MA Donna Bishop and son-in-law Max Bishop of North Adams, MA, Shawn Costa and his significant other Kelly Tandy of Athol, MA, her grandchildren; Richard, Skyla, Ashley, Dylan, David, DeAnn, Trisha, Nicholas as well as serveral great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her sister, Glenda LaFountain of Athol, MA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul C. Costa, who passed in 2018. Her parents, Earl and Dorothy (Suleski) Reed; her siblings, Shirley, Ronald, Albert, Richard, James, and her step-brother Kenny.

Carol leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication to her family will forever be remembered. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary life she lived.

We invite all who knew Carol to share their memories and upload photos to the memorial page below in honor of her remarkable life. As Albert Pike once said, "What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal." Carol's impact on those around her was profound and everlasting, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
