Betty (Reed) Spencer

ATHOL- Betty A. (Reed) Spencer, 82, of Athol, died Saturday, December 12, at Heywood Hospital. Betty was born April 4, 1938, in Bridgetown, Maine, daughter of the late Leonard and the late Vera (Hobbs) Reed. She grew up in Natick, graduating from Natick High School in 1956 and from Keefe Tech as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1971. Betty also lived in Hopkinton before moving to Athol in 2004. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 30 years at Leonard Morse Hospital and Metro-West Medical Center in Natick and Framingham. She was a former member of the Ashland Lioness for 15 years. She enjoyed reading and quilting. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Spencer in 2018 and her son, Charles Kent in 2014. She leaves two daughters, Sherry Hughson and her husband, Thomas and Lorna Becker and her husband, Timothy; six grandchildren, Sarah Pushee and her husband, Chris, Jessica Miaskiewicz and her husband, Erik, Kristopher, Matthew and Amanda Becker and Ashley Davis and her husband, Matthew; six great grandchildren, Lilly and Hailey Davis, Henry and Daniel, Frederik and Robert Miaskiewicz; one brother, Leonard Reed and his wife, Elizabeth; and one sister, Chelia Thorpe, wife of the late Bill Thorpe. A celebration of life will be announced at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
