Barry A. Glinski

Barry A. Glinski, 83, of Worcester, died, surrounded by his loved ones, on July 22, 2025 at St.Vincent's Hospital after a courageous battle with lymphoma.

Barry was born in Gardner, MA, in 1942 and graduated from Gardner High School in 1960. Barry was an outstanding baseball player, swimmer, and played football all four years of high school. He was inducted into the Gardner High School Hall of Fame. Barry traveled to Western Mass for college where he played baseball, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Springfield College in 1964 with a double major in american studies and mathematics. After several years of teaching high school on Long Island, New York, Barry attended the University of Notre Dame on a full scholarship and attained his master’s degree in mathematics. He then moved back home to Massachusetts to teach mathematics and coach baseball for Quinsigamond Community College as a professor of mathematics where he retired in 2002.


As head baseball coach at Quinsigamond Community College, Worcester, Massachusetts, Barry compiled a record of 488-172. He also served as the head baseball coach at Assumption College (now University) from 1981-1988, and returned to Quinsigamond as Athletic Director and head baseball coach in 1989. He was inducted into the National Junior College Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 2002. His total career record was over 700 wins. He also served as coach at the Olympic Festival in Los Angeles in 1983, and was a representative of the NJCAA on the ABCA Rules Committee from 1990-92. In 1977, Glinski won the right to enter the JUCO World Series, where his team played in Grand Junction, Colorado. Glinski was also the hitting coach for the Worcester Tornadoes from 2005-2009 and won the Can-Am League Championship in 2005.

Barry is survived by his three daughters, Jill Whittredge and her husband Bruce of Webster, Nicole Glinski Curtin and her husband Phil of Leominster, and his daughter Mara Racicot and her partner Rob of Auburn. He leaves seven grandchildren, Devin, Danielle, Tim, Taylor, Liam, Riley, and Karsen, who all called him, "Jaju." He leaves a sister Lorelle Kublbeck and her husband Kurt of Ashburnham, along with several nephews and nieces. Glinski is predeceased by his brother Jeff Glinski, and parents Stanley and Helen Glinski of Gardner.


Calling hours will be on Monday, July 28, 2025 from 11am to 1pm, in Gardner at the Mack Family Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm in the funeral home followed by a celebration of life at the PACC, 171 Kendall Pond Rd West, Gardner, from 1:30pm to 4:00.
