HUBBARDSTON - Barbara D. Rameau,80, of Hubbardston, formerly of Gardner, passed away at home on Saturday, February 25, 2023.
She was born in Gardner on July 28, 1942, a daughter of the late Alton W. Osborne and Grace H. (Brown) Osborne. Barbara grew up in Gardner and graduated from Gardner High School with the class of 1960. She married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Rameau in 1963 while he was still in the Navy. They opened and owned Raborne Electric for over 30 years, now operated by their son.
In addition to working with her husband, Barbara loved being a stay-at-home mom. She volunteered her time for the PTA and other organizations throughout the years. Barbara also worked at the polls for over 20 years in Gardner. She enjoyed golfing and especially enjoyed doing arts and crafts which she graciously gave to her family and friends. Once her children were grown, she and her best friend Judy Robichaud opened the first restaurant at the Gardner Golf Course, The 1772 House.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 59 years, Kenneth Rameau, her beloved children a daughter, Linda Rameau of Fitchburg; a son, Kenneth "Biff" Rameau and his fiance Kim Gross of Templeton; one sister, Connie Kostoski of Westminster; two grandchildren, Alyssa Rameau, and Taylor Rameau; a sister and a brother in law and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 12:30 pm at Crystal Lake Cemetery, Gardner. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in Barbara's memory be made to the Chestnut Street Methodist Church, 161 Chestnut St., Gardner, MA 01440.
