Arvilla M. Britt

ATHOL-Arvilla M. (Corbett) Britt, 88, formerly of Athol and Petersham, died Monday, January 6, 2003 in Health Alliance-Leominster Hospital, Leominster, following an illness. Her husband Henry E. Britt, died in 1984. Her first husband, Milton Edwards, died in 1991. She leaves five daughters, Marilyn Swenson of Anaheim, CA; Mae Edwards of Holyoke, MA; Mildred Willard of Palmer, MA; Rose Delfino of Adams, MA; and Doris Fontaine of Orange, MA; a sister, Evelyn Brown of St. Johnsbury, Vermont; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She was born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, Oct. 9, 1914, daughter of David R. and Emily A. (Green) Corbett, and had lived most of her life in Athol and Petersham. Mrs. Britt was a home health aide in a private home, prior to her retirement. Previously, she worked for N. D. Cass Toy Company and Athol Table Company, both in Athol, and was a housekeeper for St. Aloysius Church rectory in Gilbertville, and a for a church rectory on Anaheim, California. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and other handcrafts. Calling hours in the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main Street, will be 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2003.
