Tony’s legacy continues through his three great-grandchildren; Lilli, William, and Juliette, as well as his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Born April 5, 1940 in Boston, MA, Tony was the son of Francis J Lang and Eleanor L (Frank) Lang, both deceased. He was also predeceased by his sister, Mary A Lang, and brother, Joseph A Lang.
Tony cherished his lifelong friendships with Robert Anton (deceased) and Joan, and James Daly & Alice (deceased), along with their families. Together, Tony, Bob, and Jim were inseparable—the "Three Musketeers." Over the years, new friends became extended family, including Jim and Marilyn Starck and their children.
Tony attended parochial schools through grade 10 before transferring to Jamaica Plain High School’s agricultural program, graduating in 1958. He spent much of his career in warehousing, operating forklifts and managing freight shipments as a proud member of Teamsters Local 125 in Boston. His dedication and work ethic left a lasting impression on those around him.
Nature was Tony’s true element. He found joy in fishing, hunting, gardening, and sharing his love for the outdoors with his children. Summers were often spent tent camping at Sebago Lake State Park—a tradition started by Alice Daly’s parents and carried on through generations, with extended family joining in for fishing, campfires and beach days. In 1984, Tony and Mary, along with the Antons, purchased land on the Crooked River in Maine, continuing the tradition of summer gatherings.
At the age of 67, Tony embarked on an incredible journey to hike the entire Appalachian Trail. Over nine months, he not only completed the trek but also forged lasting friendships with fellow hikers Lionel (Klipspringer) Dreyer and Jack (Just Jack) Carter. Tony took on the trail name "Fahmah," a nickname that became a cherished part of his identity. These adventures reflected his bold spirit, determination, and ability to bring people together wherever he went.
Tony also enjoyed taking his boat to Boston Harbor, Sebago Lake, and paddling his canoe on the Charles River, Crooked River, and Sebago Lake. The joys of camping and outdoor activities became family traditions, now carried forward by his grandchildren, even as the years have passed and those who began them have grown older. Tony’s legacy lives on in the loving memories created with all his families and friends.
Tony will be remembered as a positive, fun-loving, and happy man who always helped others in need and never had an unkind word to say. His warmth, generosity, and adventurous spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
