Anne T. (Scandale) Allain, 95, quietly left this world September 18, 2023 after a long period of failing health, with her family by her side. She was born in Newton, MA on February 20, 1928, a daughter of the late Thomaso and Theresa (Manarino) Scandale, and had been a Leominster resident since 1950.
The wife of the late Hernie “Harold” J. Allain, Anne leaves her children: Ticia Allain-Martin of Lunenburg, Ernest (Jaqueline) Allain of Palm Coast, FL, Susan (Kevin) Gagne of Leominster, Teresa (Dr. Carl) Flinkstrom of Lunenburg, Sarah (William) Linnus of Willis, TX, Edward (Carol) Allain of Fitchburg and Thomas (Annette) Allain of Ashburnham. Anne will be dearly missed by her 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Before moving to Leominster, Anne worked at Raytheon during WWII. She also managed a Dorothy Muriel Bakery in Newton, MA.
Anne spent the rest of her life as a devoted wife, sister, friend, homemaker and mother, vested in her family as an active PTA Member and Room Mother at St. Cecelia’s Grammar School for all her children who attended. She was Troup Leader for Brownies and Girl Scouts for her daughters, Den Mother for Cub and Boy Scouts for her sons, and was a talented artist and seamstress in her own right.
Besides her husband and parents, Anne is predeceased by her 4 brothers (Vito, Joseph, Rosario and Thomas Scandale II), 4 sisters (Rose Rando, Mary Passarello, Virginia Sicard and Theresa Maloney) and several nieces and nephews.
The family is truly grateful to Anne’s Tufts Liaison, the Nurses and Therapists of Gardner VNA, the devoted Home Health Aides, Mary, from Catholic Charities and Kathy from New Beginnings – all of whom were instrumental to her care over the last 7 years while living with her daughter, Teresa and husband, Carl. The family also thanks the entire staff at Gardner Rehab & Nursing Center for making the last 7 months of her life memorable, and the staff at Henry Heywood Hospital ER and Hospice for making her final hours of life a painless and peaceful transition to her next adventure.
