ATHOL - Anna Amelia Ambrose of Athol, Massachusetts, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2006, at Heywood Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on August 21, 1915 and grew up in Athol, Massachusetts, the daughter of John Bardinskey (Bennett) and Emma Bironis Bardinskey (Bennett). Anna was the widow of Adolph "Cud" Ambrose. Anna is survived by her daughters, Beverly Meder of Springfield, Virginia and Kathleen Ambrose of Holden, Massachusetts, two granddaughters and grandson-in-laws, Kimberly Stone Jones and Patrick Jones of Worcester, Massachusetts and Cynthia and Michael Crehan of Chelsea, Massachusetts, two great-grandsons, Tiley Jones and Tucker Jones, both of Worcester, Massachusetts, and a brother Alfred Bennett of Gardner. Anna was predeceased by her sisters Pauline Kavilunus of Athol and Stephanie Beford of Orange. Anna was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Athol. She had previously been an active member of the Knights of Lithuania and was a past President of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary. She traveled frequently with the Golden Agers, taking trips to Florida, California, Las Vegas and Hawaii and had taken many other trips with friends and family, including traveling to Washington, D.C. and New Orleans. With a twinkle in her eye, Anna had a great sense of humor, a generous spirit and a gift for making people feel welcome. Anna enjoyed cooking, watching movies and spending time with her friends and family, especially her great-grandsons. Anna celebrated her 90th birthday on August 21, 2005 with a party thrown in her honor at her home in Athol by her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 101 Main Street, Athol, Massachusetts. The Rev. Fr. Joseph Jurgelonis will officiate. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Brookside Road, in Athol. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations may be made in Anna's memory to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, Massachusetts 01701. J.
